The Reseach For Bo And Bo Jue In The Dynasty Of Western Zhou Bronze

Bo is often see in literatures and bronzes which in the dynasty of WesternZhou． Generally， Bo as an appellation in bronze inscriptions are verycomplicated．There are two kinds of Bo in bronze inscriptions：the first is the rank ofaristocratic men and the second is the rank of feudatory or fief who always play animportant role in the dynasty of Western Zhou．On the basis of previous andcontemporary research results，the paper firstly gives a analysis of Bo as a rank withinthe family and as a Jue in the dynasty of Western Zhou．By exploring the relatedbronze inscriptions，we know that Bo as a rank within the family divided into alivecall and rigid call．There are thirty Bo Jue which are alive call and before the words ofBo is fief name or country name．Some of them are surely determined Juecheng，butmost of them can not fixed，so we just discuss the regular pattern of them．There areso many Bo as alive call，but some of them we can not study because of the existingmaterials is not enough．So we collect them to facilitate the followings． Bo，Zhong，Shu，Ji have the means to distinguish the grade size from all clan．It is not accidentalfor Bo as an feudal lord，which on the basis of the patterns of family and country isvery similar．Secondly．the relationship between Bo and bureaucracy is conducted．Boas the rank in the family and as Juecheng in the country is not isolated．For example，Bo can appear with officials and this arrange is regularly；Bo as Juecheng can alsoalong with officials，but in the dynasty of Western Zhou the rank of officers is not onthe basis of Juewei but on the rank of officials．Lastly，an analysis is carried outregarding the relationship between Bo and Wang，Gong，Hou，Zi，Nan. Gong’s position is higher than Bo，Bo’s position is identical with Hou，But they alsodistinguished.
