The prose, as a literature genre like poetry, novel and drama, is the example of the art of language, which enjoys a high aesthetic value. Meanwhile, highly qualified prose translation is required, since the aesthetic perception of prose to some extent has set requirments in terms of reading ability, even for the source language "readers; therefore, for those target language readers with neither the same way of language expression nor the similar cultural background, to realize the communication of prose easthetic feature definitely makes translation more challenging. Based on the complete comprehension if the source text, translation is the process of represent the source information through target language. Within Selected Modern Chinese Essays, Zhang Peiji (Mr. Zhang) has in depth represented the beauty and charm of prose translation, under the premise of being loyal to the original text, which has provided nice reference and model for the concept and strategy of prose translation.Receptive aesthetics, a literature research theory, rise in the late20thC, has indicated a precious direction for prose translation. Its most fundamental characteristic goes to the central positon of readers in literary theory and aesthetic study, and in this way, readers’function inside the whole activity of literature acceptance has caught the eye of the world. Literary translation can be looked as a literary activity, where translator serves as the first reader, and during the translation process, that is the recreation of text, translator must take into account the second reader, in terms of their social experience, aesthetic tendency and acceprive capability, namely expectation horizon; consequently, different levels of horizon fusion can be secured and literature aesthetics can take effect. Many research about prose transaltion focuses on the comprehension and expression hold by translator, whearas the status and function of target receivor during translation process is negleted. Based on the theory of receptive aesthetics, this paper aims to explore the effets over horizon fusion exerted by various elements during transaltion process, and to specificlly discuss the relation between horizon fusion and translation technique. Many examples are chosen from the book Selected Modern Chinese Essays by Zhang Peiji, detailed analysis and comparative study are made over the translation technique and horizon fusion. Then there are findings that stimulus and obstacles are existed towards the fusion, the decision of certain translation technique directly affects the extent of horizon fusion. As the rallying point among readers, authors and translators,"horizon fusion" is a essential standard for the aesthetic communication of translated texts, moreover the possibility of applying receptive esthetics to prose translation is proved. It is certain that this research has left some deficiencies for further study.
