Gitanjali is one of Bingxin s greatest translation works. The thesis tries toconduct a study of Bingxin s translation of Gitanjali from the perspective oftranslational aesthetics in terms of aesthetic subjects and objects. As for aestheticsubjects, the author lays emphasis on the aesthetic thoughts of the writer and thetranslator, that is, Tagore s aesthetic thoughts reflected in Gitanjali and Bingxin sthoughts in translation, and finds that Tagore and Bingxin, the aesthetic subjects havesomething in common in terms of their religious thoughts, their love to motherland, tonature and to children.As for the study on aesthetic objects, the original text and translated text havetheir own ways to produce the aesthetic beauty in form, in sound and in meaning.However, the aesthetic effect of Bingxin s translation is in accordance with that of theoriginal poems. In the translation of Gitanjali, Bingxin adopts different techniques toreproduce the aesthetic properties of the original text. She pays special attention to thediction and the appropriate use of repetition, parallelism, and antitheses, which makeher translation style meaningful, innovative and vivid. These features, integrated withthe beautiful nature, the tender mood and the implicit aesthetic effect in the originalwork to help develop Bingxin s unique translation style, which coincides with that ofTagore s.Through the study, the author of the thesis concludes that Bingxin, the translator,is in resonance with Tagore, the original writer, in thoughts, which lays a solidfoundation for the success for the translation of Gitanjali. Besides, Bingxin dedicatesherself to reproduce the aesthetic beauty of the original text by taking advantage ofChinese and her gift in language, which also contributes to the success of thetranslation. All in all, the study of Bingxin s translation from the perspective oftranslational aesthetics weights the aesthetic value of Bingxin s translation meanwhile Bingxin s translation of Gitanjali can be a perfect example for translational aestheticstudy.
