Research On Bellini’s Art Songs

Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835) is a representativeopera composer of European Romantic in19th century, he not onlyfar-reachingly impacts on the development of opera in the Romanticperiod, meanwhile, in the history of art song, he is also an indispensablemusician. The unique style of Bellini’s art songs, with beautiful melodies,is suitable for vocal teaching and concert singing. This article focuses onBellini’s art songs; the next five chapters will illustrate the creation of artsongs.The first chapter introduces the background and the development of19th century Western art song, and then it reviews of the master piecesvocal music and art songs in his life time. Chapter II describes Bellini’sart songs from the lyrics, musical structure, music creation, features ageneral description. Chapter III analyses instances of the five songs whichfurther reveals the artistic value of Bellini’s art songs. Chapter IVcompares Bellini’s works of art songs and works of the same period ofGerman and Austrian composer and the Italian composer of art songsfrom the lyrics, and creative characteristic the fifth chapter discusses thegrasp of the Bellini’s style of art songs and technical skills. A relatively small attention was paid to early stage of Romantic inItalian art songs, I hope that through this study of Bellini’s art songs,whether it is in the level of the study or in practice, I will have a deeperunderstanding to all the Italian art songs and Bellini’s art songs and use ofvocal music teaching and performing.
