When the emotions of Romantic optimism was flourishing in the United States in the19th century, the praise of youth and life was very popular in literature, Poe alone was flying in his own unique literary sky with his thick outcast complex. He described the world full of loneliness and fear, mixed with the crazy feelings of revenge, longing for the arrival of death piously. The significance of the literature was not only in the19th century, but also in the20th century. The conscience of the20th century agreed with him, followed with him. The value of the literature belongs to the20th century.If Allan Poe’s creation opened a harbinger for the Literature of the20th century in modernism and Postmodernism, then, Kafka is undoubtedly one of the most important writers of the20th century."Kafka is a mystery, he and his work is full of intricate paradox. Nevertheless, Kafka past through the door of the century, and acquainted with Edgar Allan Poe, he depicted the same thing as Edgar Allan Poe, such as:loneliness, fear, death, salvation... this is a coincidence? Some kind of inevitability was implied behind the seeming coincidence. Edgar Allan Poe and Kafka’s soul has the similar outcast complex so that they have the possibility of par, and made this kind of inevitability.Absurd world and life, the survival of the confusion and difficulties, lack of individual spiritual home and barren. In the era that God is dead, we were abandoned. Poe and Kafka have been abandoned. The work shows a sense of abandonment, author looks for the valve of catharsis in his writing, leads ordinary people to the way of salvation... this is perhaps the writer’s mission.The writing of this paper is divided into three parts:the introduction, main body and conclusion. Introduction mainly clarifies the purpose and significance of the topics, reviewed research on the topics of the status quo. The first chapter, the causes of Poe and Kafka’ outcast complex, combined with Poe and Kafka’s life and experience, the author mainly expounded the concept about foundling and complex. The second chapter, the insinuation of the foundling complex in the fiction of Poe and Kafka, mainly embodies four aspects, namely loneliness, fear, complaining and revenge. The third chapter, the emotional orientation of outcast complex in Poe and Kafka’ novel, mainly unfold from two aspects:death and salvation. The fourth chapter, the essay mirrors the literature of20th century from Poe and Kafka’ outcast complex. This chapter only briefly referred to the foundling complex prevalent in the literature of the20th century, not discussed in detail. The epilogue is a summary of the full text, re-emphasized the penetration of the foundling complex in the essay of Poe and Kafka.
