The Redemption Of Death

As one of the leading obscure poets at the beginning of the 1980 s, Gu Cheng’s witty, clever, pure poetry style was extraordinarily outstanding. He created his uniqueness of poetry and personality with children’s innocence images. Gu Cheng had been famous of the name “fairy tale poet”, because most of his early poems were full of innocent images and romantic flavor of fairy tales. However, Gu Cheng’s later poetry was transformed from early bright and pure to dark and obscure, even having been covered deeply with the death shadow. In some ways, the consciousness of death whether the early warm death or the late despair death had been thoughout Gu Cheng’s poetr. Eventually, he finished his wife’s and his own lives in a decisive and painful way to practice his consciousness of death which had been shown in his poetry. Besides the deep sorrow, the abundant implication of death of Gu Cheng’s poetry has also been left to the futurities.I tried to analysis Gu Cheng’s characteristic aesthetic implication and value from the angle of the consciousness of death being conveyed in Gu Cheng’s poetry writing. Firstly, I analysised the creation of death showing in Gu Cheng’s poetry writing, and tried to analysis the influence of the early individual mental structure to poets’ later poerty writing, including the analysis to the childhood experiences and the early poetry language. I supposed to seek the poets’ psychology under the unique language faculty to explain the cause of the death awareness creation being conveyed in poets’ works. Secondly, I elaborated the aesthetic reflection of the consciousness of death showing in Gu Cheng’s poetry writing. I tried to integrate the theory of aesthetics theory in this chapter back to Gu Cheng’s poetry and seek the abundant images and beauty of death contained in his poetry. And I also tried to find the relationship between the unique image of dream and the image of death, thus I could dig into further. Finally, I would discuss the transcendence and redemption of Gu Cheng’s consciousness of death and feel his view of death that the death is the nature and redemption.Then put Gu Cheng’s death into the background of the end of last century in order to analysis the particular redemption meaning of death to the poets.
