Self-conscious emotions are compared to the basic emotions which contains shame,embarrassment, guilt, pride and so on.Shame is one of the self-conscious emotions which isdefined as an emotional state. The emotional state is generated when the behaviors of theindividual are not reach or against social criteria.In this process, cognition and selfinvolvement play an important role. Although shame belongs to a kind of negative emotions,children’s development of shame has important significance to the development of moral andsocial interaction. Based on the important implications of child’s development, shame hasgradually become a new research hot spot in the field of emotion. The article started from theexperiments of shame and focused on determining the infants’ occurrence time of shame.By integrating the previous literature reviews and research results, with the parents’depth interview data and children’s natural observation data, this study used the revised theclassic experiments(the distribution ball game and string ball game) to examinesystematically the infants’ occurrence time of shame manifestations and discussed the infants’individual differences on the occurrence time of shame with the microgenetic method andcross sectional method. Experiment one studied9infants from29months until35monthswhich selected randomly from kindergartens of Dalian by using longitudinal method.Duringthe period, every child took the experiment once a month respectively.Experiment two studiedthe occurrence time of shame manifestations of29-36months (88in total) babies by using thecross-sectional method.The study conclusions are as follows:1. The shame emotional expression occurred and developed between29and36monthsof age,and the occurrence time of shame was the age of34month.2. The infants’ incidence of shame generally increased along with the growth of age.3. The infants’ average occurrence time of shame existed individual differences, but theboys’ average occurrence time of shame and the girls’ showed no significant difference.
