The Research About Profiled Letter Words In Modern Chinese Language

In modern Chinese language, there are a lot of researches about letter words and profiledwords, many groundbreaking results have been reached. However, the research about profiledletter words is still insufficient. With the letter words are used more and more in modernChinese language, we can find profiled letter words used more often, and it brings manyproblems in Chinese language.This thesis focus on the profiled letter words in modern Chinese language, mainlydrawing on the experience of language social theory, language dynamic theory, and languagenormative theory, based on the previous results of letter words study, presentour definition of profiled lettered words; collecting corpus from reference books, newspapersand periodicals; adopting the method of statistics, comparisons, combination of descriptionand explanation, theory and practice, to give analysis, synthesis and summary to the problemsof variant type of profiled letter words, causes of the profiled letter words and thestandardization of profiled letter words, and at the same time bring correspondingstandardization requirements and detailed suggestions.This thesis is consisted of5parts except Introduction and Conclusion:First part: Present situation of the profiled letter words usage. This part we makedetailed and accurate statistic analyze of the corpus we collected, totally398profiled letterwords (repeated words is not included). These corpuses mainly come from4aspects: newspapers,65profiled letter words; Chinese reference books,275; and The2006report of thelanguage situation in China,74; doctoral dissertation appendix of Zheng Zezhi,45; to givedescription of the present situation of the profiled letter words usage.Second part: variant type of the profiled letter words. Make full analysis of the corpus,induce5types of variant, including letter variant,15.83%, Chinese character variant,59.55%,number variant,7.29%, symbol variant,11.81%, and comprehensive variant,6.28%,then make detailed description to each variant. We can find Chinese character variant is themost common type, one reason of this situation is the scope of our investigation, anotherreason is that pure letter words are difficult to be accepted by most people, so lots of Chinesecharacter variant letter words occurs.Third part: The causes of the profiled letter words. We analyze the causes of the profiledletter words from8perspectives; out of them the main factor includes5aspects: composition,word formation, frequency and economy, translate method, Chinese word element, and the minor includes: epoch, region, input process. We make detailed elaboration towards eachfactor.Fourth part: Comparison between profiled letter words and traditional Chinese profiledwords, point out the differences and similarities between them. The similarities are: they bothbelong to one meaning different form phenomenon in language usage, the differences are:generate time, definition, classification, and cause, to further study the profiled letter words.Fifth part: The standardization of the profiled letter words. Firstly, pointing out theexisting problems affecting the search engine, information retrieval, auto translation andother software. We should standardize the usage of the profiled letter words on purpose,bringing the principle of the standardization,The current era is the era of fast-paced, high-speed frequent information exchanging, avariety of new words are emerging, the terminology not standardized phenomenon is veryserious, and in dire need to strengthen the language standardization efforts to build aharmonious language living environment. Through the researches of the profiled letter words,analyze the type and cause of the profiled letter words; bring standardization requirementsand detailed suggestions; to provide reference to medium usage, dictionary compiling, andour daily life.
