The Roles And Their Realization Of College English Teachers In Network Teaching Environment

Ever since human civilization stepped into21st century, the economy in our country has been largely strengthened, and needs for English language are gradually increasing in all social fields. Meanwhile, as human beings are entering the information age, multimedia techniques and network are getting widely used in College English teaching, which is becoming a.trend. This paper attaches much emphasis to the advantages of computer assisted teaching mode, and necessity for the College English teachers to accurately define their roles under the new teaching mode. Only when they successfully realize their roles under the network teaching environment, can the teaching effect be promoted, and also can the College English teaching reform go further and deeper.This paper adopts methods of literature reviewing, interviewing and summary&induction to conduct research, and it finds out that under network teaching environment, College English teachers’roles should be online information collector and editor, teaching helper, online teaching activity designer, online study assessor and controller, internet operation and online information learner. However, because of the lack of awareness and capability in editing online information, the lack of capability in monitoring students’online learning, as well as the lack of motivation in updating their knowledge, many teachers do not do a good job in online information edition, monitoring students’online learning and updating their knowledge. Therefore, many teachers do not successfully realize there roles in the new mode of teaching. So, all College English teachers should open their mind and change their idea, improve their capability in monitoring student’s learning online, and enhance their qualities, in order to realize their roles in College English teaching under the network environment.
