| In the wave of outside culture pouring in China, the cover design ofchildren’s books has lost its own culture essence. As a result, more andmore children like to talk much about “Doaremon”,“Transforme” and“Detective Conan”, with knowing less about traditional Chinese culture of5000years of history. The essence of traditional Chinese culture beingabsorbed in the children’s books is not only important to develop thechildren’s books market, but also essential to foster the love for traditionalculture and pass on the traditional culture.This paper is based on the fact of cover design of children’s books and starts from the shadow play art and tries to combine the planarity,imagination, decoration, symbolism and donation and the visual perceptionand psychological characters. The shadow play art is absorbed into thebook design and find a reasonable connection between rationality and childinterest. The final design shows modern time and nationality, drawinginterest from all children and improving the cover design of children’sbooks with Chinese style. At last, some trial design is made to support thepaper, and suggestions are made to future cover designer of children’sbooks. |
