Opera research in the drama perspective is one of the most important aspects of music literature. It firstly requests to regard the opera as drama Although all elements including text, music need to highlight their respective features, they subordinate to the drama finally. The dramatic function of text is mainly reflected in the construction of the drama’s plot framework, embodying "clumps" thinking mode etc. The dramatic function of music mainly includes "characterizing, initiating action, creating atmosphere" and so on.The opera Peter Grimes is the masterpiece in the20th century.It reveals an unimportant person’s inner various contradictions and conflicts induced by himself and the outside environment and ending in death, through depicting and interpreting the protagonist Peter Rimes’s fate. The opera attaches great importance to representation and characterization of the figure’s inner world, so it has been called" psychological realism" opera. Moreover, the Intermezzo in this opera also has a very unique character trait. In addition, the works due to the influence of modern drama, also with some symbolism, expressionism and distorted elements, which make the opera become more abundant, and deepen the theme of the opera.
