The correlations between chant, dance and music in ancient China court dancing is a key point for studying the history of dance. Ancient Chinese literatures intensively described and recorded the dances in ancient China. In the lack of figurative materials about the ancient dances, it is crucial to examine the ancient literatures. Thereafter, with the miscellaneous dancing lyrics in the Collection of Yue-Fu Lyric Poems as the object of study; this thesis attempts to compare the dances involved in the lyric text, literatures and notes, and subsequently analyze court dances in the historic period from Han to Tang Dynasty.The main text consists of three chapters. Chapter1briefly introduces the origin and composition of the miscellaneous dancing lyrics in the Collection of Yue-Fu Lyric Poems. Chapter2evaluates the miscellaneous dances in Han-Wei Period and Six Dynasties, with Pi-Gu Dance and Bai-Zhu Dance as the representative works. The styles and features, as well as the functionalities of the two dances were studied; wherein, the Bai-Zhu Dance was further elaborated with a theme as "the Beauty of Flying in Emotion-oriented Dance and Music". Chapter3overlooks the genres and evolution trends of the court dances from Han to Tang Dynasty.
