The Summary Of Study On Han Dynasty Brass Stamp Inscriptions And Layout

Personal stamp has a very long history in China. It is not only a symbol ofidentity, but also a media of Chinese character which records the culture and historyof a particular period of time.Although stamp is not a common media of Chinese characters, it has providedabundant information for studies of Chinese characters at different period. Thebrass stamps during Han dynasty was particularly significant among the Chinesestamp development history regardless of number, species, skills and its effects to thelater stamps. However most of the studies on Han dynasty stamps are notcomprehensive at this moment, in order to determine the accurate manufacture timeof the Han dynasty stamps obtained from field archeology, the Chinese characters onthe Han dynasty stamps has to be referred to other documentary record at that time.The article includes two major parts. First part of the article is a summary of theexisting research done on Chinese characters on Han dynasty stamps. It describesHan Dynasty brass stamp Chinese characters from three aspects namely indexingand publishing of the Chinese Characters, comprehensive research and interpretationof Chinese characters, and professional research on Chinese characters. Second partof the article is a mini dictionary of all existing Han dynasty brass stamp Chinesecharacter available, and this part consist of legend, main body and index.
