Western TV Drama Appreciation And Intercultural Communicative Competence

With the Chinese globalization, Chinese has been the focus all over the world. Andmany teachers are raised to teach English who play a quite important role in theChinese culture transmission. The international culture communication competence isa necessary part for a qualified Chinese language teacher, who should has a goodknowledge of basic Chinese. The cultivation for the competence of internationalculture transmission relies on the understanding of different cultures and theaccumulation of social experience, which can be achieved in various ways. And theappreciation of the western films and TV programs is one of the effective approachesto raise their international communication transmission ability. In these movies andsoaps the learners can learn of the different life styles and customs and the people’smanners and habits in different countries, which can lay a solid foundation for thefuture work and study, but without which learners may commit stupid mistakes.Therefore the learners need to know different cultures to avoid making such kind ofmistakes. So it is of great significance to raise the international communicationtransmission ability when teaching abroad. It is helpful to combine the languageteaching and the culture learning, which can benefit both the teacher and learners to agreat extent. One of the research objects is to help the Chinese language teachersfacilitate their teaching after learning of the target culture and the students.Movie is the picture for the real culture, which is an important way for a learnerto gain the background information of the target language. The appreciation of themovies and TV series is an effective way for the input and output of a culture. Thispaper tentatively classified the movies according to the materials in appreciative way,which helped explore the essence of the culture, which can be combined with thelanguage teaching to improve the Chinese language teachers’ international culturecommunication capacity. Four chapters are introduced to illustrate the relationshipbetween the appreciation of the films and the international culture communication. In the first chapter the origin of the international culture communication and thedefinition of the international culture communication are introduced. The culturedifferences between the western and Chinese in the films is discussed from theinternational culture’s angle.Chapter three refers to the ration for the improvement of the international culturecommunication ability by paying attention to the culture differences.And in the last chapter the findings of the paper is concluded, which emphasizes thenecessity for the appreciation of the movies and TV opera, which can help people gainmore advantage in the international communication.
