With the increasing development of Chinese economy and the corporation of AsianUnion, international Chinese teaching and Chinese language promotion is increasingpopular around Southeast Asia, especially the development of international Chineseteaching in Thailand. Each year, Hanban will choose thousands of Chinese volunteerteachers to teach Chinese in Thailand according to the support of the requirement ofThailand. The author had the honor to become a member of Chinese volunteer teachers inthe year2012in Thailand and teaching in a private university in Chiangmai. Duringteaching, the author realized the popular degree of Chinese in Thailand, and found someexist problem in Chinese teaching. From elementary education to higher education, frompublic education to private education, from school to language training institutions, areall have Chinese course. But most of the Chinese learners are weak of listening andspeaking skills. According the other Chinese volunteer teachers in Thailand,comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Reading and other courses, like Chinese in the printedmedia, are the main courses in most universities in Thailand. Courses about Chineselistening and speaking are less than the others.North-Chiangmai University which the author teached in, for instance, Chineselistening and speaking course is not the main course, and it doesn’t run the course for thefour-years of study, just only one semester. The author found that there were manyproblems during Chinese listening and speaking course, like the strategy of study and thecognitive of students, students’ autonomous learning ability is poor, most students inNorth-Chiangmai University spend less time on talking with Chinese teacher andlistening Chinese, and most students use Thai pronunciation to mark Chinesepronunciation etc. The author was according to the theory of teaching Chinese as aforeign language and the theory of listening and speaking, use the method of interview,the actual data survey and observation to analysis the problems of Chinese learners inNorth-Chiangmai University.It has the theoretical and practical significance in this study. On the theoreticalsignificance, base on the analysis about the problems of Thai students on listening and speaking skills, it will enrich the theory of Chinese teaching to some extent; And on thepractical significance, it can strengthen the curriculum design of North-ChiangmaiUniversity and the teaching method of Chinese Listening and speaking course, contributeto the development of university. The author also hope this study can help to enrichteaching Chinese to Thai and the course of Chinese listening and speaking.
