As an important branch of Chinese classical poetry, Chinese landscape poetry has always been highly appreciated for its particular artistic conception and aesthetic perceptions of "painting in poetry". Artistic conception is not only the soul of Chinese classical poetry, but also the essence of Chinese traditional aesthetics. Chinese landscape poetry, characterized by the blend of heart and object as well as the fusion of emotion and scene, has been regarded as the perfect example of creating aesthetic perceptions by artistic conception. How to preserve the aesthetic perceptions by artistic conception in translation has become the key point in the translation of Chinese landscape poetry. Various researches on the translation of Chinese classical poems have been carried out and gained achievements; however, the specific research on the translation of Chinese landscape poetry in the aesthetic perspective has not been deeply studied. This thesis aims to explore the reconstruction of artistic conception in the translation of Chinese landscape poetry from an aesthetic perspective in the hope of shedding some light on the future researches in this field.The artistic conception in Chinese landscape poetry consists of image, emotion and "image beyond image", with the fusion of image and emotion as well as the interaction between real realm and virtual realm as the main features. Chinese traditional aesthetics has profound influence on the origin and development of Chinese landscape poetry. Taoist pursuit of "harmony between people and the nature" and "truth" influences the aesthetic pursuit of "lively spirit and charm" in Chinese landscape poetry; Taoist aesthetics in Chinese landscape poetry highlight the simple visual effects as well as the natural and free expressions of images in the poetry. With concise words and delicate arrangement of images, the natural scenes are directly presented to the readers, creating great artistic conception and Zen realm in the landscape poetry. Besides, with the same origin of Chinese traditional aesthetics, Chinese landscape poetry is closely connected with Chinese painting theory which has deep influence on the creation of Chinese landscape poetry.On the basis of Chinese traditional aesthetics, with the descriptive approach, the thesis analyzes in depth the reconstruction of artistic conception in the translation of Chinese landscape poetry, including the reconstruction of image, emotion and "image beyond image", and expounds respectively the transference of aesthetic perception in real and natural scene, fusion of scene and emotion as well as interaction between the real and the virtual. In the reconstruction process of artistic conception, accurate and appropriate translation of static images and dynamic images in poetry becomes the key point to transfer the visual, acoustic or tactile aesthetic perceptions as well as produce spirit and charm to landscape poems. Besides, the transference of emotions and perfect fusion of emotions and images are significant parts to vitalize the natural scene and create aesthetic perceptions in translation. Moreover, Chinese syntactic features should be selectively retained in translation and the arrangement of images should be attached significance so as to reconstruct the void realm and Zen realm in Chinese landscape poetry as well as aesthetic perceptions produced by the interaction between the real and the virtual. In addition, the philosophical thoughts, aesthetic sense and space composition views in Chinese painting theory can influence the subjective roles of translators in the reconstruction of artistic conception in Chinese landscape poetry.The main body of the thesis is constituted by three chapters. Chapter Two delves into systematical literature review to highlight the necessity and significance of this research. Chapter Three deals with the main concepts of artistic conception and aesthetics related to the thesis, establishing a theoretical basis for the further analyses. Chapter Four digs into profound analyses on artistic conception reconstruction and aesthetic transference in the translation of Chinese landscape poetry through comparative study, and also states subjective roles of translators under the influence of Chinese painting theory in translation.
