The World Exposition is an important banquet to exhibit the fruits of humancivilization. On this stage, the products from industry, technology culture and even thelife continue to create innovations, promoting the progress of the times. The host countrytogether with the participating nations is the performers. Thousands of people from allover the world focus their attention here. From the first London World Expo in1851tothe successful holding of2010Shanghai World Exposition, there are more than onehundred times World Exposition has been held. Every World Exposition has carriedglorious footprints of human civilization. Moreover, the World Exposition has played animportant role in the social development. The San Francisco Panama-Pacific worldexposition is a significant milestone in the history of World Exposition. After thedestruction of the earthquake especially in the haze of the First World War, thesuccessful holding of San Francisco Panama-Pacific International Exposition is not easy.This world Exposition is to commemorate the discovery of the Pacific for four hundredyears and the opening of Panama Cannel. The San Francisco Panama-PacificInternational Exposition has not only promoted the rapid rise grand development ofAmerican cities and helped the Americans regain the confidence but also supply peoplewith a grand stage to display the brilliant fruits of human civilization. Moreover, it seemslike a window which reflects people’s beautiful longings for the peace.The Introduction of this thesis expounds the reason why chooses this topic and theaim and significance. Moreover the studies at home and abroad are also introduced in thispart. In the first part, the author depicts the background of the San FranciscoPanama-Pacific International Exposition. The second part reviews the history of thisWorld Exposition and its unique features. In the third part, the author analyzes thepositive and negative effects of this exposition. The fourth part states the revelation thatthe world exposition promotes the rapid growth of the west coast of the USA. In the lastpart, the author concludes the effect that the World Exposition has brought on SanFrancisco. This World Exposition has not only increases the reputation and the international impact of San Francisco but also brought in more capital, talents, laborforce and market resources, which makes San Francisco constantly grow and develop.
