This paper will mainly unfold and reveal the impact of the United Statesliterature on Chinese New Literature to explore the American literature influence factorsin the formation and development process of Chinese May fourth new literature.The first part briefly states the literature background of the influence that Americanliterature produces on May-Fourth literature in China.The second part particularly discusses the medium matter of American literature toMay-Fourth modern literature’ influences in China. In this part, we chiefly discuss twomatters: one is about the translated works from American literature; the other is about themovement of Chinese students’ leaving for America.The third Part analyzes and states the concrete influence on May-Fourth modernliterature that was produced from American literature. In this part, we’ll expatiate thisthesis from three ways: American pragmatism and Vernacular movement, Americanmodern poetry and Chinese May-Fourth modern poetry and American dramas andChinese May-Fourth dramas.
