This paper, based on the theory of cognitive linguistics, focuses on a group of synonym—"guan","bi" and "he" which has the meaning of "making open things closed" in modernChinese. The paper aims to make their developing venation clear and find their developingrules by analyzing their original meaning and the words and phrases which contain "guan","bi" and "he".The nuclear-semantic feature of "guan" is link. Moving around the action, status, andresult of its original meaning—"latch", its semantics is governed by link and radiatesoutward. The core semantic feature of "bi" is isolation. Its semantic moves linearly from itsoriginal meaning—the action of closing door, to the condition after action and to the result ofaction. After being isolated, the internal part is isolated and cannot communicate with externalthings. The core semantic feature runs through it. The core semantic feature of "he" is overall. The semantics of "he" spreads along with the main line which shows that separated things arebecoming unitary.A developing rule can be got after summing up the developing venation of these threewords: governed by the core semantic feature and starting with original meaning, wordsradiate and spread in one manner. The general characteristic of these three words is that they have the meaning—"makingopen things closed". All these three words have this kind of action, but they emphasizesdifferently."guan" acts strongly and emphasizes "blocked"."bi" focuses "seal off" ofcondition."he" puts emphasis on "whole".This paper has five chapters.Chapter one is the introduction. This chapter presents the viewpoint on the basis ofexplanation of research object, studying theory, studying methods and research condition ofthis paper. Words have their own developing rules. Every word has its unique core semanticfeature. Mastering the core semantic feature of every word does good to distinguish synonym.Chapter two, chapter three and chapter four are coordinate and stand as the nucleus of thewhole paper. These three chapters illustrate the semantics of "guan","bi" and "he" separatelywith the same analyzing aspect. The first step is to select reprehensive words and phrases andextract the semantic feature of every sort after classifying and analyzing these words andphrases. The next step is to analyze the connection between the semantic features of everysort and clarify the developing venation of words. The last step is to generalize the core semantic feature from original meaning and analyze how the core semantics runs throughevery kind of semantics.Chapter five is conclusion. This chapter describes the similarities and differences betweenthese three words concretely and vividly with cognitive schema and distinguishes theirmeaning on "close and fold" with sememe analysis method. Furthermore, this chaptervalidates the validity of semantic feature analysis by explanting typical examples.
