In the middle of The Southern Song Dynasty, Yongjia School was very famous inone time. The early scholars, such as Xue Jixuan, Chen Fuliang, Ye Shi, weredetermined to recover the national territory occupied by Jin, and participated innational political activities, which aimed to realize the nation’s prosperousness andpeople’s strength. Their academic research was against the empty words purely, andfocused on systematic science for practical application, they keeped the consistentutilitarian style in the fields of politics and academic research. Yongjia scholars’articles which also had this utitarian purpose from their politics and academic research,had the bright trend of this thought and artistic features. After the later scholars’inheritance and development, included Chen Qiqing, Wu Ziliang, Shu Yuexiang, DaiBiaoyuan, Yongjia School had actually becomed the Yongjia Literary School. As themembers of the Chinese Confucian scholar, Yongjia scholars’ utilitarian tendencyfrom the politics and academic research to literature, and the actual correlation andinteraction between the three fields, revealed the interactive factors between politics,philosophy and literature which existed in The Southern Song Dynasty, and showedtheir spirit of Confucian social utility and the utilitarian feelings of ruling the world,and the literary efforts from the later Yongjia scholars indicated that Yongjia School’sutilitarian culture on the politics and academic research had declined already.This article taked the Yongjia School’ utilitarian consciousness as the clue, anddiscussed the Yongjia scholars’ political situation and utilitarian political position inthe Southern Song Dynasty, analysed their utilitarian academic trend which wascontrary to Zhu Xi Daoism, and summarized their utilitarian writing theory fromtheir creation on imperial examination articles, elaborated the morphological changesof the Yongjia articles’ form and style deeply, finally sort out the steps andcharacteristics in the course of the Yongjia School’s literature transformation, in orderto reflect the Yongjia School’s utilitarian spirit, and the developing trend from theinteraction which existed in politics, academic research and articles of YongjiaSchool’s own in the Southern Song Dynasty.
