Wen xin diao long which is written by Liuxie has an important position in the history ofancient literary criticism theory in China. It is not only a relevant literary theory but also awork about article. In wen xin xu zhi, it points that it has certain method to write articles sothis work contained the beauty points of “write articles”. The aesthetic thought of “taste” isone of the important aspects of its beautiful spot. Liu xie’s application of “taste” makes itsaesthetic ideas more plump. This paper will research and analyze Liuxie’s "taste" theory andtries to show all aspects of the “taste” theory.There are three chapters in this paper:The first chapter mainly talks about the root of the “taste” theory of Liuxie. This chapterincludes two pieces. The first piece discusses the aesthetic derivation of the “taste” theoryfrom the Pre-qin to Wei Jin and the Northern and Southern Dynasties period. The secondpiece tells the ideology and actual conditions of the “taste” theory of Liuxie. This questionwill be discussed from metaphysics in the Wei and Jin dynasty and the practice of literatureand art.The second chapter mainly discusses the connotation and root of the “taste” theory ofLiuxie. This chapter includes two pieces. The first piece discusses the connotation of the“taste” theory of Liuxie. It explores its connotation from the aesthetic angle which includesthe emotion of taste, the patterns of taste, the implication of taste, the image of taste. Thesecond piece talks about the theory foundation of the “taste” theory of Liuxie. It mainlydiscusses this from the essence of the unity of the article and the theory; the blend of the heartand fact of the creation and the contradictory of conveying the meaning and the language.The third chapter mainly discusses the characteristics and effects of the “taste” theory ofLiuxie. The first piece discusses the characteristics of the “taste” theory of Liuxie. It compareswith Zhongrong and Luji. It holds the point that the “taste” is distinct which is impractical inliterature activity and it has a focus of generality and inclusiveness The second piece talksabout the influence of Liuxie’s "taste" theory. It is an important link of Artistic ConceptionTheory that the opening and using widely of the “taste” to the aesthetic and emotion mingle with the scene of the “taste” theory. Therefore, the “taste” theory has profound influence onthe history of literature.
