This thesis analyses status of international students education of China especiallytypical characteristics and fast development trend of short-term international programs.It explains necessities of opening cultural courses for short-term internationalprograms from the angle of the relationship between language and culture. The authortakes Korean and American short-term programs as examples to explain separatelyhow the cultural and psychological elements affect international students’ study,different characteristics of students from the two countries on cultural courses study inshort-term Chinese cultural courses, countermeasures of Chinese teachers to studentswith different characteristics in short-term Chinese cultural courses. Referring toKorean students, as the influence by Chinese Character Cultural Circle, which madethem be humble, respect to the elders, shy and stable. Teachers should buildstudent-centered concepts, create relaxing class atmosphere, bear students’ mistakes,inspire students joining class activities in order to help improve the study of Koreanshort-term program students. Referring to American students, as the less influence byChinese Character Cultural Circle and the cultural difference, which is easy to makeconflicts between the cultures. American students pursuit equal communication, joinclass activities actively and concern about practical effects. Teachers should break outChinese traditional teacher-student relationship, create relaxing and freecommunicating atmosphere and make good use of various methodologies in order topromote students’ study and understanding about Chinese culture. Moreover, teachersmust learn different culture and study different characteristics of students in order tocarry out proper teaching methods to promote spreading Chinese language and culture around the world.
