The crosstalk is a kind of unique art of language in our country, and its purpose is to make people laugh, which is the magic of the crosstalk art. But all languages must be based on the context to achieve the communicative effect. According Xiong Xueliang’s experiments, the context is a cognitive context which has important practical significance on the study of the improvement of the language communicative effect. So far, the crosstalk research is mainly relative to more traditional research at home and abroad, such as comic language features,"package" constitution means, and comic language rhetoric features. There are also some studies which adopt the western theories as their entry point, such as presupposition theory, cooperative principle and conversational implicature theory. But there are rarely scholars who specifically study the crosstalk from the angle of the context, especially that of the cognitive context. The context is only a small aspect in their research. Moreover, most of the crosstalk research works are just the research of the north crosstalk, and barely the research of the south crosstalk. This thesis makes a tentative, systematical study of the language effects of Qizhi-Dabing’s crosstalk from the angle of the cognitive context in order to enrich the research on the crosstalk and urge people to have a deeper understanding of the south native crosstalk. On the basis of the findings of the research on the crosstalk based on the western theory, the author makes a careful study of the lines of the crosstalk texts of the most popular26crosstalks of Qizhi-Dabing from the perspective of the cognitive context theory. This thesis mainly researches several aspects of Qizhi-Dabing crosstalks:dialect, unique language style, pragmatic deviation, and cognitive context construction of crosstalk language. Through the study we find that the crosstalk language itself is not humorous, and that it is also not as beautiful as the literary language. The reason why it can make the audience laugh and achieve the desired effect is that the crosstalk language activates the brain’s cognitive schema of the audience, and that it is the cognitive context, and the comic language context cognition that make the audience laugh. The greater the difference between the context presented by the crosstalk and the cognitive context in the mind of the audience, the more intense the contradiction and conflict, and the more obvious the language effect.
