Conceptually, the portrait of the oil painting—a form of artisticexpression—is to portray the figures as its underlying purpose as well as todepict a single or a group. The portrait is an vital component of the oilpainting, hence, the process of painting portraits could be called theexploration of the figure’s characters. The article is divided into six partsanalyzing the creation in the portrait of oil painting. The first part elaboratesthe concepts of creating the portrait of oil painting and its origin as well as itsdevelopment; the second part analyzes the elements of creating paintingportraits; the third part attempts to explore the usage of colors while paintingportraits and how to sketch; the forth part is to analyze the artistic quality ofpainting portraits; the fifth part works for the problem between theresemblance in spirit and the resemblance in shape of painting portraits; thelast part focuses on the innovation and development of painting portraits.
