The “Calligraphy-Person resemblance" is one of the importantaesthetic standards of Chinese calligraphy, has the vital influenceon calligraphy criticism. However “Calligraphy-Personresemblance” is not the general criticism, but has its theoreticalbasis. This thesis is to analyze the historical process of"Calligraphy-Person resemblance", cultural background, someexamples on the theory and confirm the claim on“Calligraphy-Person resemblance”. The five chapters will beintroduced as follows:The first chapter is "Introduction", summarizing previousresearch results of scholars and exploring the research purposeand methods.The second chapter is to study historical development of the“Calligraphy-Person resemblance”. According to its development,the author probes the source of "Calligraphy-Person resemblance"from the view of calligraphy carrier-text, and according to theconnotation evolution of the theory, it can be divided into nurture(developing) and mature (reform) period, and then author makes ananalysis on the characteristics and new elements absorbed of thetwo periods.The third chapter introduces the interaction between human and calligraphy, revealing the profound meaning behind the Chinesecalligraphy. And calligraphy, through human sensory perception,penetrates into all areas of life, such as martial arts, art of war,architecture, literature, and daily life including food, clothing, andshelter, finally calligraphy and human penetrates into each other,providing solid foundation for "Calligraphy-Person resemblance”.The fourth chapter quotes some examples on “Calligraphy-Personresemblance". The author Quotes various kinds of calligraphyworks from emperors emperor, feudal official and calligrapher andchecks their historical records, makes a comparative analysis of“calligraphic works” and "the man", illustrates the theory is tenable.According to evolution of the theory, the author makes an attemptto find common feature between “calligraphic works” and “theman”.The fifth chapter is "conclusion", summarizing the theory.“Calligraphy-person resemblance" is one of the traditionalcalligraphy criticism modes, but it covers a certain new feature, notonly showing the aesthetics characteristic of calligraphy, alsocultivating oneself. Thus, the theory has its own unique value.
