Sketch has provided uninterrupted inspirations and vitalities forcreativity in history of western painting. As a basic method of learningdrawing, sketch, regarded as not only the bridge connecting art and life,but also a way for student to recognize, understand and express life, alwaysplay a significant part in our country’s painting education. After enteringthe new century, new environment is waiting for visual art, which iswidespread of high technological craftwork which brought us to an imagetime. In addition, the diversification of drawing style have limited andreduced sketch’s value and status in teaching people painting personage inChinese ways. Yet, in school’s artistic practice, sketch is still considered asthe necessity process and basic method for teaching and mastering paintingskills. Obviously, the difficulty in teaching painting personage is the majorchallenge we are facing. The essay will analysis the reasons causing thiscondition and several discuss upon some phenomenon in education will beadded before expounding its great value. The essay is divided into threechapters: the first chapter makes a conclusion of painting personage, andgives help to recognize the tradition of sketch and creativity in teaching; itcan help understanding the problems. The essay comes up with thenecessity of my writing and some of my attitude toward sketch education.Diverse arts provides a wide terrace for sketch, simultaneously,contradiction emerged between existing simple understanding and standardof valuation. Thus, it’s vital to look and introspect again. The secondchapter mainly analysis the insufficient and negative phenomenon existingin sketch education so that I can find out the possibility in promoting theeducation’s status and illustrate its meaning. And in the third chapter, Ihave put the method and develop direction of education combine with thereal practice. I hope that the excellent tradition-sketch will be recognizedclearly, also much more creativity could join in when sketch is inheritingthe old and keep energy in new times.
