According to research on Mandarin consonants, psychological characteristics have become one important part of phonetics research. With the development of science and improvement of economy, more and more physiological instruments are used in Phonetics research. The Phonatory Aerodynamic System referred to in this article is one of these instruments. The participation of airflow plays an important role in the vocal process. Using the analysis of air flow and pressure we can have a better grasp of the pronunciation of consonant. The Phonatory Aerodynamic System is used to study the Mandarin plosives and affricates, and extract the Expiratory Airflow Duration, the Phonation Time, the Peak Expiratory Airflow, the Mean Expiratory Airflow, the Mean Airflow During Voicing, the Expiratory Volume, the Peak Air Pressure and three aerodynamics parameters. Meanwhile, make a Comprehensive and comparative analysis of air flow and pressure of plosives and affricates. We have studied the pronunciation diversity caused by different pronouncing organs and methods, as well as the coarticulation between syllables. After analyzing airflow signal, they find out that long VOT means aspirated sound is far larger than non-aspirated sound, and affricate VOT gradually becomes shorter while affricate consonant gradually becomes longer in a sequence from front to back pronouncing organs. During pronouncing released sound, the max speed of airflow is obviously affected by pronouncing organs, the max airflow rate is related with released extention and pronouncing organs, the airflow speed followed by vowels is not obviously affected by these above factors, they mainly depend on the consonants of syllables, and is related with pronouncing methods. To analyze the pressure signal parameters and mean SPL, compare the air pressure of plosive and affricates during realizing resistance, and the result shows that the resistance degree of Pressure of plosive is higher than the affricates, and unaspirated sounds is higher than aspirated sounds. To describe aspirated and unaspirated sounds parameters combinated with aerodynamic parameters. Try to distinguish aspirated and unaspirated from air pressure parameters. Also study the co-articulation phenomenon in the structure of Mandarin syllable C1V1C2V2and make a specific and detailed analysis.
