Using event related potentials and color oddball paradigms, we chose vMMN asan index in a basic shape discrimination task to explore whether personality trait willaffect color perception unconsciously and to the color which is significant differencecolor in preference between different personality trait, whether they will show thedifference in color perception in the unconscious level. In experiment1, collegestudents were investigated with EPQ-RSC in order to choose extroverts and neurotics, and then we used rank orders to study the color preference of extroverts and neuroticsin order to determine the color which is significant difference color and notsignificant difference color in preference between them and served as the colormaterial in experiment2. The results showed that red was the color of the significantdifference in the color preference rank order between them and green was the color ofno significant difference in the color preference rank order between them and was thesame color preference rank order between them. Thus, red was identified the color ofthe significant difference in the color preference rank order, and green was identifiedthe color of the no significant difference in the color preference rank order. Inexperiment2, subjects were asked to perform a shape discrimination task, and westudied when green is the deviant stimulus in one experiment condition and is thestandard stimulus in the other experiment condition, whether there was significantdifference between extroverts and neurotics in vMMN. The results showed that therewas no significant difference between extroverts and neurotics in vMMN. The resultssuggested that there was no unconscious effect of personality trait on color perception.Meanwhile, we studied when red is the deviant stimulus in one experiment conditionand is the standard stimulus in the other experiment condition, whether there wassignificant difference between extroverts and neurotics in vMMN. The results showedthat there was no significant difference between extroverts and neurotics in vMMN.The results suggested that to the color which is significant difference color inpreference rank order between different personality trait, they showed no difference incolor perception in the unconscious level.
