New Road For Chinese Scholar Painting Initiated By Wei-jin Demeanor

Chinese scholar painting has always been focused by scholars both abroad and at home. However, most of them have paid attention on Song-Yuan Dynasties and Ming-Qing Dynasties when Chinese scholar painting developed maturer. Few research has been conducted on Chinese scholar painting before the above-mentioned times, especially on that of Wei-Jin Dynasties. Even if there existed, they were discussed just from a single point of view and did not elaborate its characteristics in great depth. Special consideration should be made of the spiritual origin of Chinese scholar painting from the perspectives of history, politics, philosophy and so on. What’s more, internal relationships between Wei-Jin Demeanor and Chinese scholar painting should be further concentrated and discussed.In this thesis, painting is taken into account under the cultural background. which dates back to the Wei-Jin Dynasties that play the most important role in art with Chinese characteristics. The relationships between Wei-Jin Demeanor and Chinese scholar painting have been figured out and analyzed to provide a foundation for better understanding the art of Chinese scholar painting. It’s found that the features of Chinese scholar painting in terms of taste, style and subject have had a close tie with Wei-Jin Demeanor. Demonstrated by celebrities of Wei-Jin Dynasties, painting has achieved decisive breakthroughs on its functions and appreciation of the beauty from a completely new angle. In the process of penetrating into philosophical thoughts such as Yi, Xuan, Dao and Shi, the penetration of the main value is placed more weight, making Chinese painting head for a road completely different from the western traditional painting. Through combining Chinese scholar painting and Wei-Jin Demeanor, the artistic features of Chinese ancient scholars are interpreted, enabling us to feel the profound ideological realm, unique ways of thinking and mysterious aesthetic interest. It is of great realistic significance and provides valuable references for the location and development of the style of the modern Chinese painting.
