The Performance Of Chinese Ancient Poetry Art Songs And The Modern Creation Art Songs In Chinese Art Songs

This study makes an analysis and comparison between Chinese ancient poetry art songs and the Modern creation art songs in Chinese art songs.This thesis is made up of four chapters. The first chapter gives the definitions of some related concepts, respectively, Art songs, Ancient poetry art songs, Modern creation art songs. In addition, it analyzes the vagueness of the definition of Chinese art songs. The second chapter gives a brief introduction to the development of Chinese ancient poetry art songs and it can be divided into two sections. The first section clears up the development of Ancient poetry art songs in a chronological order (Art songs in a ancient times, Ancient poetry art songs in Republican and Ancient poetry art songs after the founding of the People’s Republic of China). The second section makes an analysis to the two kinds of cultural connotations "chant" and "Literati feelings" in Ancient poetry art songs and their roles in the performance. The third chapter is the development of Modern creation art songs, and it also consists of two sections. The first section illustrates the development of Modern creation art songs. And the second section summarizes and concludes the creative characteristics of Modern art songs, and gets the performance features of Modern creation art songs in the comparison between Ancient art songs and Modern creation art songs, which covers four main features:the technical features with a combination of Chinese and Western composition, Era Characteristic of lyric writing, the individual characteristic of lyric writers and the features of artistic style in the performance. The fourth chapter analyzes the practical application of these two kinds of songs, especially the application of the professional vocal music teaching in colleges and universities.This study makes the brief study of the Chinese ancient art songs and Modern creation art songs through the method of comparison and contrast. The studies of the features of "Chant" and "Literati feelings" in Ancient poetry art songs are comparatively weak, while this thesis makes a clear analysis and comparison between them. In addition, this thesis probes into the study about the summary to the features of Modern creation art songs, and the comparison of different artistic styles between Ancient poetry art songs and Modern creation art songs in performance, which can’t be found in previous studies. Furthermore, this study aims to promote the deeper development of Chinese ancient poetry art songs and the Modern creation art songs, thus lay the essential foundation for the holistic study of the whole Chinese art songs in the future.
