The Study Of WangYucheng’s Send-off Prose

WangYucheng was a forerunner of poetic reform movement in the song dynasty, who played the role of a guide. He pointed at downcast style of writing, proposed using amiable and simple writing style to take the place of flashy and gorgeous in the early northern song dynasty, laying a foundation for OuYangxiu and SuShi.This thesis studied WangYucheng’s send-off prose. I collecteded and analysised relevant information, combining WangYucheng’s life background and experience in order to get an objective assessment on his send-off prose. The thesis studied WangYucheng’s literature opinions, artistic characteristics, political attitude and ethical pursuit, which are contribute to define the position of WangYucheng’s send-off prose in the literature history.This thesis introduced WangYucheng’s expeirience and works firstly. Though he was born from a farmer parentage, he was very intelligent from childhood. He gained the advanced scholar when he was thirty years old. His official career was very rough, because the emperor dismissed him from his post for three times. WangYucheng created a great many of literary works, but we can see only a part of them today.The second chapter discussed literature opinions from WangYucheng’s send-off prose. He advocated to use confucianism and HanYu as learning standard. He hope the prose not only have the social meaning, but also can express the author’s heart. What’s more, words of the prose must be easy to understand. And the author shoud be pay more attention to their own’s studying and cultivation.The third chapter elaborated the artistic characteristics of Wangyucheng’s send-off prose. Including genuine feelingtone, neither haughty nor humble writing manner, combining description with comment, simple and tasteful language style, and graceful scene represention.The fourth chapter analysed WangYucheng’s political attitude start from his send-off prose. For example, he considered literary talent and moral trait are equally important. And he hope the governor should be pay more attention to placeman who are in the basic level. WangYucheng considered that no matter how low the official place was, they must do their best for country and people. About the economic policy, he proposed to intensify supervision on material transportation. WangYucheng argue for reforming tax system, and supported to give the power to appropriate person.The fifth chapter expatiated WangYucheng’s ethical pursuit. He consider filial piety and fraternal duty, benevolence and righteousness are originally standing foundations of a person. At the same time, people must keep noble ethical pursuit no matter whether they can achieve their political ideals. In his pinion, people want to gain high position and handsome salary is human nature, but peolpe must use the valid method.
