"Ode on the Red Cliff" is painted by Joe Chung Chang in Earlier Song Dynasty (960-1127)."Fu-chun Mountains" is drawn by Huang Kung-wang who is the first of four palmary landscape painters in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). They are very similar on the landscape painting schema, and they are also different. Earlier Song and Yuan Dynasty are two important periods of Chinese landscape painting history. The two figures are both for innovation. They possess their own special status in the history of Chinese art. In this paper, it’s beginning from the discussions of two innovative paintings, which cited plenty of specific instances of the schema comparison. The schema should comprise four parts as follows, and they are the composition form, the image factor, the technical elements and cultural background. The Paper embodies three levels on schema that are the trends, the selecting and the refining, and the actual situation and the distance. So it will discuss something around two picture with graphic method of combining. If the comparison is order to understand them more in-depth, understanding is order to absorb and utilize them better. In last part of paper, it is for guiding the concrete practice of Landscape Painting, which I put forward four-point links that require special attention:the elegant style, the distinct theme, the material stress, as well as the most difficult calligraphic. Familiar with those four points, it is extremely helpful to Landscape Painting in the future.
