Joe Chung Chang Chuan "after The Red Cliff Map" Research

About the decade of painting ‘Su Shi’s Prose Poem on the Red Cliff ‘which is said to bedrawn by Qiao zhongchang, the scholars have different opinions. This article divided into fourparts and will probe its decade and who is the real painter:First, I sorted the collector according the time and find it’s unclear before Liang Qingbiaoof Qing dynasty.Second, researching the style, I think this painting was created during the time of late ofYuan dynasty or early of Ming dynasty.Third，contacting this painting with other paintings about Red Cliff theme which circulating,works and landscape works of Li Gonglin’s school,it can be surmised that the work was createdin16th century40s-70s by the painter of Wu area and copied the draft of Li Gonglin. In otherwords, the painter was belonging to Li Gonglin Li’school in Wu area.Finally, from the place of where the poem written, style of handwriting and taboo, it can beannalysed that the painter was deeply affected by the writing style of Ming dynasty. And itconfirmed my speculation.
