For a long time, in Chinese language teaching and grammar researches, scholars always equatethe meaning and usage of buda X" and "butai X",but seldom touched on their differences,let alonethe depth comparative study about the two formats. Based on their achievements, this thesis aimsat making a more comprehensive and systematic comparative studies of two formats by usingthree-facet、rhythm and lexicalization theories and making analysis of relative data. Papers’ maincontents include the following:(一)With the aim of elaborating the starting point of this paper, this chapter summarizes theexisting research achievements and makes a brief comment on their contributions and limitations.(二)This chapter starts from the perspective of syntax-functions and makes a shift fromoutside to in. In order to summarize their concrete semantic features, the author makes a deepresearch on syntactic and semantic features of two formats "buda X" and "butai X" respectively.(三) According to the principle "structure-function-meaning" and on the basis ofsyntax-semantic researches, the author categorizes the level of the two formats and proposes myown opinion.(四)Based on the above analysis and with the aid of using related theories of lexicalization,the author studies the similarities and differences between “buda X” and “butai X” synchronicallyfrom the perspective of structure, the selection of central word and the measure of part of speech ofa word.(五)The author summarizes the research results and performs a statistical analysis on theentry information of “buda X” and “butai X” included in relative dictionaries, hoping they wouldget scholars’ noticed. However, the idea of the further direction of “butai X” and the question ofwhether the lexicalization of “butai X” will substitute the use of “buda X” are two problems stillunsolved. Here in this paper two problems are put forward for a further investigation.
