A Study On Redundancy Caused By Lexicalization

This paper takes“以为”“质疑”“国际”“既然”“来自”“涉及”as examples and researches the redundancy caused by lexicalization from phrases,syntactic structure and trans-layered structure.Based on the linguistic facts and the theories of lexicalization,the paper describes the formation of words and discusses the motivations of lexicalization,in order to find the rationalities for“以为是”“提出质疑”“国际间”“既然这样”“来自于”“涉及到”,which have always been in dispute.Then,compares the redundancy with original words to find the value of their existence.This paper focuses on the lexicalization and redundancy,takes six groups of words as examples,to reveal the relationship between lexicalization and redundancy.This paper includes five chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction.This chapter introduces the background of the research and the current research situation,illustrates the objects,tasks,corpus and methods of the reseach.Chapter 2 discusses the redundancy caused by lexicalization from phrases and takes“以为-以为是”“质疑-提出质疑”as examples.This chapter describes the formation of words with“以为”and“质疑”,illustrates their motivations of lexicalization.The motivations between them have a few differences.Through the comparison,it is indicated that“以为是”and“提出质疑”show a unique value in the morden Chinese.Chapter 3 discusses the redundancy caused by lexicalization from syntactic structure and takes“国际-国际间”“既然-既然这样”as examples.This chapter describes the formation of words with“国际”and“既然”,illustrates their motivations of lexicalization.The motivations between them have a few differences.Through the comparison,it is indicated that“国际间”and“既然这样”show a unique value in the morden Chinese.Chapter 4 discusses the redundancy caused by lexicalization from phrases and takes“来自-来自于”“涉及-涉及到”as examples.This chapter describes the formation of words with“来自”and“涉及”,illustrates their motivations of lexicalization.The motivations between them have a few differences.Through the comparison,it is indicated that“来自于”and“涉及到”show a unique value in the morden Chinese.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of the paper.Based on the Chapter 2-Chapter 4,this Chapter analyses the redundancy caused by lexicalization,discusses the motivations and mechanism of lexicalization,summarizes the value of the redundancy in modern Chinese.
