The paper mainly talks about the comparison and contrast of Chinese modalverbs “Neng”and “Hui”and the English modal verbs, error analysis and teachingsuggestions.The research object is ‘Wuthering Hights’.Firstly,I analyze and organizethe Chinese version about Chinese modal verbs. Then, English Model verbs “can,could, may, should, shall, will, would” in English version are analyzed and organized.During this process, first of all, I recalled the former researching results of Chineseand English model verbs, so I found that there were more researching results about theChinese and English modal verbs respectively, and there were more achievements.Then, in Chapter Two I analyze,compare and contrast the Chinese and English modalverbs together. During the comparison and contrast, I found that these situations ofone to some, and some to one are coincident. Because both Chinese and Englishmodal verbs have these usages and meanings, which also the reason why the Englishnative speakers make the errors when they use Chinese modal verbs “Neng” and“Hui”.And I also conclude the errors types such as leaking the words, confused wordsand so on. According to these problems, the author give some teaching suggestions tosolve them.
