Chinese language teaching entered in Senegal in 2007,Confucius Institute of Dakar which is our target started teaching in 2013.During teaching courses,we have found out that students from Confucius Institute of Dakar have many problems to use correctly Chinese auxiliary verbs “neng” “hui ” “keyi”.This paper compares “neng” “hui” “keyi” with the French corresponding auxiliary verbs to find similarities and differences,then conduct a questionnaire on the Chinese auxiliary verbs to find out the error,analyse and summarize the types of errors made by students of Confucius Institute of Dakar and propose teaching suggestions.This article is divided into five chapters:The introduction is about research origins and purpose,it also presents the research target and methods that are going to be used throughout this research :investigation,contrastive,error analysis.The first chapter,the ontology research and teaching Chinese as a foreign language summary of our predecessors’ researches on the Chinese auxiliary verbs“neng” “hui” and “keyi”.The second chapter,compares the Chinese verbs “neng” “hui” and “keyi”with the corresponding French auxiliary verbs and points out similarities and differences between them in affirmative-negative sentence pattern,verb form,use of answer sentences and interrogative sentence structure.The third chapter,is about a survey conducted to the students of Confucius Institute of Dakar University,find out omission,wrong order,inappropriate negative usage as types of biases when acquiring and using the Chinese auxiliary verbs “neng”“hui” and “keyi”.The fourth chapter,according to the types of biases appeared on the questionnaire,find out and analyses these following reasons :negative transfer of mother tongue,negative transfer of target language knowledge,learning strategies,textbooks impact.The fifth chapter,based on Confucius Institute of Dakar University’s studentsacquire these Chinese modal verbs problems and propose teaching suggestions such as: reasonable arrangement of teaching order,the use of situational teaching methods,increasing diversification of exercises.The concluding part summarizes the paper,points out the innovation point and the research deficiency.Hope this will help students to learn and use Chinese vocative verbs.
