This paper mainly comments the basic logic thought of Zhang Taiyan and Liang Qichao, and comparing the different of them.Firstly, we briefly state the background of the research on modem Chinese logic. After second logic east, western logical thought gradually introduced to China. Some Chinese scholars began to study western advanced logic thought, when a point of view was popular that methods can save the nation. And the logic was that method, it could change the thinking to increase knowledge and enhance national strength. Indian classical logic was introduced into China during the Tang Dynasty, then gradually declined until some reliable scriptures was introduced by Yang Wenhui in Qing Dynasty. Meanwhile, the study of Mohist Cannon had broken through the biggest barriers, with the explanation of Mohist Cannon had been accomplished by Sun Yirang. Thus, Zhang Taiyan and Liang Qichao were affected by the three logical theories, which formed a unique research method during this period.Secondly, the article reviews the basic logical theory of Zhang Taiyan. Zhang Taiyan mainly concentrated on original name published by the newspaper. Later the paper was included into the book written by Zhang Taiyan. The logical theory of Zhang Taiyan is divided into three parts. Part one is the name, including the traceability of name, the formation of name, and the development or change name. Part two is the base and formation of argument. Part three is inductive problem and the solution. Clarifying the name can help us to avoid the ambiguity of argument. Zhang Taiyan also found that induction does not have a universal conclusion. We should use it carefully.Again, the paper sorts out the basic logical thinking of Liang Qichao. His theory focused on three aspects:the definition of logic, the manner of logic, and the law of logic. The most important part is the law of logic. And also Liang Qichao summarized three methods of inductive logic in Mohist Cannon, which corresponds to Mill’s Five Canons. Liang Qichao compared the Mohist, the western logic and the Indian classical logic, while the comparison focused on the form of inference. Finally, the comparison of Zhang Taiyan and Liang Qichao’s logical thinking is the main point. Zhang Taiyan and Liang Qichao lived at roughly the same time. They were both the outstanding revolutionary in the modern history of China, and their ancient Chinese was very excellent. Therefore, it’s meaningful to compare the logical theory of Zhang Taiyan and Liang Qichao. They have four similarities. First, both of them thought that the meaning of debate were arguing and striving to win or persuade others. Second, the basic text was Mohist Cannon. Third, they all compared the Mohist, the western logic and the Indian classical logic. Forth, they also held a positive attitude to the inductive logic. Otherwise, they had three differences. First, Zhang Taiyan focused on the name, but Liang Qichao preferred the law of logic. Second, Zhang Taiyan focused on the Indian classical logic, but Liang Qichao preferred the western logic. Third, Zhang Taiyan focused on the defence of inductive logic, but Liang Qichao preferred the method of inductive logic.
