The philosophical discussion on Fantasy stands for a crucial part in Husserl’s analysis of consciousness. According to Husserl, all the objectivating activity (except perception) attained to the category of fantasy in the general sense. But as will be illustrated, fantasy did not really play a very creative role in the Husserl’s earlier works. The essay firstly tries to focus on the discussion and validation of Husserl’s concept of fantasy. What role did fantasy really play in his theory? By clearing the distinctions within the concept itself, the second chapter will be focusing on definition of memory. And the relationship between fantasy and memory will also be discussed throughout the analysis of time consciousness in the third chapter. Furthermore, the question of a pure world of fantasy will also be raised, and to see how far we can go both within this empirical world and then to see how to find the possibility to go beyond it. |
