Study On The "Time" Narrative Of Avant-garde Novels From The Writings By Ge Fei

There is a close relationship between time and culture. Since20thcentury, time has become an important topic for discussion incultural area, and time is no longer simply a concept of science orphilosophy, it is also the important part of periodical culturalawareness. As for the disastrous influence from two world wars,writers show the bran-new time concept in their works, such as: tostress the time of psychological sense, to break the liner time, toshow the fragmentation of time. In china, it was not until vanguardnovel appeared in1980s, the time reform of the fiction had followedthe trend in the fiction world. Ge Fei as the presentative of vanguardnovel, his works at that time contained obvious personal time sense,which was his clear writing mark. In this present paper, the writerexplains the cultural context of vanguard novel and explores theform of time awareness from Ge Fei’ s works based on this culturalcontext. With the introduction of the narrative theories, thenarrative time awareness is aroused for writers of the vanguardnovel, the style consciousness that has long shed by traditionalrealism is aroused, meanwhile, the imagination of time and spacethat is limited by the realism rules is also liberated. There are somenew concept appearing in cultural area, which is caused by thenarrative formation. They are: fiction narrative as the productive imagination activity can create the possible reality world, the viewof language of the traditional “reflection theory” is reversed,narrative form is everything and narrative discourse createsdifferent “realities”. These new concepts will indicate that there isa freedom and board art room in literature. Ge Fei’ timeconsciousness is formed on the background like this, to separatenarrative time from story time and to change various narrativeforms, to change the code way of realism narrative and to build thefiction rules of centering on narrative time, to finally create aunique literature time and space. In addition, in Ge Fei’s novels, thetime is not only the main way of narration and shape, but it also is"timeliness" motif about the world---being and time, memory andforgetting, narrative deduction of survival and death. It is showedthat history as time factor is affected by the participation of thecontemporary self-structure consciousness during exploring timeand memory, time and history. In Ge Fei’s novel,the historyrepresentation is to use the language body of fiction narration,timeand memory.
