The Application Of Schema Theory In Interpreting Of Things You Need To Know

Interpreting, as a complex language activity, is related to the conversion between twolanguages. The understanding, memory and output of the source language (input language)play an important part in interpretation. Schema theory is a doctrine about the role ofbackground knowledge in language comprehension. This report attempts to analyze schemafunctions in the process of interpretation, the schema and schema activation are helpful tounderstanding, memory and prediction of information. The interpretation activities shouldpay attention to the background knowledge of the topic and to strengthen, expand andactivate interpreter’s schematic knowledge to improve the effect of interpretation.Taking schema theory as the theoretical framework, a documentary as the material of theinterpretation, this report analyzes the process of interpretation and discusses the applicationof the schema theory in the interpretation. It also analyzes the function and the effect ofschema theory from the contrast angle, and summarizes the inspiration the schema theorybrings to us in the interpretation. According to the characteristics of interpretation, it analyzesthe function of the schema theory step by step; according to the documentary features, itstudies its application in the documentary interpreting using different schema types.
