This report is based on the author’s listening and translating experience on a selectedEnglish tourism program—Travelogue’s Greece Episode presented by CCTV-NEWSChannel. This project mainly includes two parts: listening and translating. First of all, theauthor needs to get the exact transcript by listening; then she is required to translate thesource text into proper Chinese. The English source text can be classified into tourismEnglish, thus the translating process calls for specific principles and strict standards.According to each unique procedure throughout the entire practice, the author hasdivided this report into four parts. Chapter one is a brief introduction to this listening andtranslating project. In this part, the author mainly presents some information aboutTravelogue as an English tourism program and the great significance of this program. Thispart also points out the cause and purpose of this chosen episode as the study subject. Thewhole project demands a clearer description. Therefore in the second chapter, the authorfocuses on providing further detailed information about each specific procedure: pre-listening,while listening, pre-translating and translating.The main body of this report lies in the third part which discusses the puzzles thatperplex the author and the strategies and skills employed by the author through solvingproblems. The final part is a conclusion part in which the author summarizes her experienceand lessons drawn from this precious project as well as indicates some weak points that needfurther improving.
