English is the most widely used language in the world and it is a tool for the exchange ofinformation in the world. For these reasons, English is a required cultural basis course for thevocational school in Shandong Province; it is also a required cultural basis for students in thevocational school. English teaching materials has been a key issue in the English teaching inChina, the majority of English teachers in secondary vocational schools concerned about it. Inorder to implement the spirit and the requirements of “The Decision of Developing VocationalEducation of the CPC Shandong Provincial and Shandong Provincial People’s Government”,Shandong Provincial Department of Education organized experts to plan and compile thecurriculum materials of cultural basis causes of secondary vocational education and professionalcourses of secondary vocational education to adapt to the needs of the reform and developmentof vocational education. Secondary Vocational English intended for Shandong Province iswritten by Shandong Province vocational education textbook writing group and is adopted by theShandong Province Approval Committee of vocational education textbooks. These textbooks areprovided to the vocational institutions of Shandong in the fall semester of2006. With theintroduction of new public infrastructure syllabus in2009, Secondary Vocational Englishintended for Shandong Province revised. This thesis is mainly used in the literature method,questionnaire method and interview. According to theory of the textbooks and the teachingmaterials evaluation theory, the author analyzed the internal evaluation of English Textbooks forVocational School in Shandong Province. She also collected the user’s evaluation from teachersand students in vocational school of Zoucheng Shandong in the way of questionnaires. She triedher best to draw a complete and convincing analysis and evaluation of this teaching material inorder to find out the advantages and disadvantages of this teaching material on the use and makeconstructive comments and suggestions. The ultimate aim of her is to promote the teaching ofEnglish textbooks of vocational school in Shandong.This paper is composed of seven chapters.The first chapter is the introduction, consists of the research background, the purpose andsignificance, research methods and thesis framework. The second chapter is Introduction abroad teaching evaluation theory of historicaldevelopment and analysis of vocational English teaching some of the information..The third part is expounded the nature, function and role of the material and the principles,contents and methods of textbook evaluation.The forth chapter is the evaluation of English textbook for vocation school, by analyzing themain guiding and structure of the textbooks, the layout of the textbook, the language knowledge,and the viewpoint of language and language learning, etc.The fifth chapter analyses the investigation and the result of the textbooks’ using inZoucheng vocational schools and the conclusion of the paper.The sixth chapter is the suggestions to the textbook and teaching itself.The seventh chapter is summary of the paper’s main findings and limitations, andsuggestions for follow-up research.
