The Comparative Study Of State Words In Chinese And Korean

This thesis is a comparative study of state words in both Chinese and Korean. It mainly contains these contents as bellow:The first chapter is introduction. It presents the research background, summarizes the research results currently, and introduces the research methods of this thesis. The comparative study of Chinese and Korean state words is a little weak. And I really hope that this thesis will be helpful for the study.In the second chapter, section1and section2introduce the definition of state words in Chinese and Korean separately. And then the third section summarizes the comparison of Chinese and Korean state words. In definition, they are almost the same. But in the relationship between pronunciation and meaning, structure, grammatical function, they are complicated. On one hand, they are the same. On the other hand, they also have some difference.The third chapter gives a comparative study of Chinese and Korean state words in the relationship between pronunciation and meaning. For both Chinese and Korean state words, their pronunciation is related to their meaning. However, Chinese state words are morpheme words, and Korean state words are syllable words. So the performance of latter seems more obvious than former. And their rules are also different.Chapter4presents a comparative study of Chinese and Korean state words in their structure. They both have separate type and overlapped type. What’s more, for both Chinese and Korean state words, the overlapped type is the main type. Even though they have these same features, they are still different in the number of syllables and overlapped types. In detail, the number of syllables of Chinese state words is much fewer than Korean state words. While the structure type of Korean state words is not as varied as Chinese state words. This reveals that the word-building methods of Chinese and Korean state words are also different.Chapter5study Chinese and Korean state words comparatively in their grammatical function. The state words in both Chinese and Korean have many grammatical functions. They are able to play different roles in different sentences. Chinese state words use auxiliary words to achieve their grammatical functions; however, in Korean, they use different termination to change word forms to perform grammatical functions. This is because Chinese is isolating language, and Korean is agglutinative language.In the end, it is a summary of similarities and differences about Chinese and Korean state words in the relationship between pronunciation and meaning, structure, and grammatical functions.
