Studies On Peking Opera Promotion Overseas Based On "Peking Opera With Interpretation Tour Show" Mode

’Go global’serves as a catch phrase for China’s foreign cultural exchange causes such as promotion of the Chinese language worldwide. However, the scarce need and lack of awareness of certain traditional cultural resources and their performing art at home do all but facilitate their international promotion. Therefore, analysis of successful individual case from the perspective of communications may provide a universal approach for worldwide promotion of Chinese traditional culture.This thesis centers on the international promotion of Peking Opera, which is well received worldwide and calling for a cost-effective modus operandi. By introducing "Peking Opera with Interpretation lour Show" in Korea and Japan and comparison with conventional ones, the author seeks to identify the commonalities of Peking Opera tours through inter-disciplinary analysis of their subjects, audiences and effects so as to establish a universal approach for Peking Opera worldwide promotion.Theoretically, this thesis proposes a new perspective for institutions charged with Toreign cultural exchanges to take into account in their preparation for tour shows. In addition to cultural differences between subjects and audiences, this perspective calls for the study of interactive entitles in a broader social and cultural context to optimize communication effects. This study itself applies not only to foreign cultural exchanges, but also paves a way for inter-disciplinary studies of sociology, communications, etc.Practically, this universally applicable approach may serve as guidance for meeting supply and demand, lessening cultural conflicts and lowering information cost when promoting Chinese culture overseas. Further still, its optimization will facilitate overall plan as well as specific programmer for China’s foreign cultural exchange causes.The author theoretically analyzed the main characteristics of "Peking Opera with Interpretation Tour Show" by consulting the reports on the Peking Opera Tour and incorporating his participation, interviews and questionnaires in Dongseo University’s two cases. Therefore, it shall not be regarded as all-inclusive and error lree and is subject to improvement as a theory criterion as well as a universally applicable approach for Chinese culture going global.
