The classification of dynamic and static in sentence is the sub-categories in pragmatic.Based on the aspect of sentence, static sentence results from the cognition and descriptionof the objective world in an static perspective. Checking the previous study aboutsentence,the attention on the static sentence is not enough. So the academic achievementsare limited and there is almost no systematic research about the staticsentence.Thus,the"concept of static and dynamic"is a new perspective and the analysis ofsentence with such an idea is a brave attempt.It has a great significance on the theory andpractice of Chinese grammar.The dissertation selects the medieval literature as the main corpus. On one hand,through the corpus retrieval and extensive investigations, this dissertation describes andanalyzes the static sentence with Three-dimensional Grammatical Theory, in order topresent the whole picture of the static sentence of medieval Chinese. On the other hand,this dissertation focus on the analysis of pragmatic features in static sentence of medievalChinese and its application in various styles.The exordium is the definition and classification of static sentence with the "conceptof static and dynamic", in order to offer the cognitive standards in this article. After briefintroduction of the previous research about the static sentence, it explains the significance,methods and objects of research in this article.In the body part, firstly, the static sentence of medieval Chinese is divided intodescriptive static sentence, evaluative static sentence and explanatory sentence accordingto the expression way of sentence. Secondly, we describe and analyze the syntactic types,semantic types and pragmatic functions of every kind of static sentence in detail.On thisbasis, we further study the pragmatic features and components and the application invarious styles of static sentences in medieval Chinese.The basic conclusion of this dissertation is that the static sentence of medievalChinese has shaped the basic patten for the static sentence of modern Chinese from theaspects of syntax, semantics and pragmatics.
