This paper chose the Yecheng’s grottoes of Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties as the research object, which include the Ring Hall Mountain grottoes, Small South China Sea caves, Baoshan Lingquan Temple Grottoes and Handan Gushan water bath Temple grottoes, according to the specific historical environment and the cultural factors, classifying these grottoes research. In the process of writing, through the archaeology, art, history, philology, ethnology and sociology, combining the studies of many other disciplines.In combination with previous research based on Ring Grottoes and Anyang Grottoes, analysis an independent factor about Yecheng’s grottoes in the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties as well as its position in the development of Chinese grotto.This thesis is divided into five parts:The first part defines time and space of Yecheng’s grottoes of the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties, introducing the Yecheng area and definition of grottoes, at the same time summarizing previous scholars’investigation and research status about this region grottoes, and describing the selected topic significance and research methods.The second part introduces the research within the scope of the preservation of grotto status and its grottoes shape characteristics.The third part of the research object type, fractional and staging. Mainly undertake the relationship between the ring Grottoes, a small South China Sea Caves, Baoshan Lingquan Temple Grottoes and Handan Gushan water bath Temple Grottoes, and continue the relationship between shape change.The fourth part discusses the role of the of Yecheng’s grottoes of Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties in the development of Chinese grotto. Buddhism was introduced into the Central Plains route as the starting point combined with the special status of Yecheng and active in this area during this period monks on behalf of the introduction of ideas to prove the importance of Yecheng’s Buddhism, which reflects the importance of Yecheng’s grottoes. The last section of this chapter in accordance with Chapter Ⅱ of the research is based on a combination of Yungang Grottoes, Longmen Grottoes, and Kongxian Grottoes to discuss Yecheng’s grottoes position of Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties in the history of Chinese grotto.The fifth part is the conclusion. Research Yecheng’s grottoes of Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties and compare to Sui and Tang dynasties, come to the conclusion that Chinese grotto art is in the process of the sinicization of its an important position.Undertake in Yecheng’s grottoes in China, development and fusion of art reflects the unique buddhist culture and buddhist grotto art in the central plains.
