As the artists spaned the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, Jian Jiang and Xiao Yuncong lived in the same historical background, and mentally expressed their respective regional landscape with different methods. Although the two respective geographical region is different, the two artists share similarities in their style of painting. Through data collection and comparison of the existing paintings, the stone structure combination of the two’s landscape paintings obviously have different approaches but equally satisfactory results, that is, both of them are good at using geometric shape stones to screen layout.The original line of geometry of painting is a great pioneering work in the development process in Chinese painting. Xiao Yuncong’s expression changes slightly more than Jian Jiang, and Jian Jiang promote this method to a new height. Both of them perfectly illustrated their painting style in the process that they learnt from the artists prior to them and from the nature.This study begins with the analysis and comparison of the stone structure of two landscape painting, lists several pieces of the representative works, in order to compare their paintings from the three aspects:the ink composition, methodicalness, and rock structure, and explore the reasons for the formation of the rock structure and the characteristics. In the in the process of analysis, the author describes their identities, state of mind, and the historical background, because they greatly influence the painters’mentality and their expressions of the rocks structure in their paintings and seem indispensable. Through the comparison, the author hopes to find out that whether Xiao Yuncong’s style had effects on Jian Jiang’s, and what influences their aesthetic tastes have on their unique styles and what inspirations their aesthetic tastes leave future generations.
