Mao Shi zhengyi,compiled mainly by Kong Yingda, represents the highest achievement for the study of the Book of Songs in the early of Tang-dynasty, and deeply influences the continuing research of the Book of Songs. The paper studies the annotation of Mao Shi zhengyi, and discusses the style, the principle, the feature, the success, and the insufficient of the annotation for the Mao Shi zhengyi with the help of other scholars’ work. Guiding by the theory of exegetics, the research continues with methods of statistics, description explanation and comparison, testify through comparison, induction. Based on the previous study, Kong Yingda makes further accomplishment both in the way of annotation, the practice of annotation and the theory. And the work Mao Shi zhengyi, which deeply influences the exegetics, the phonology, the annotation science and the traditional grammar of Chinese, deserves an important status in the history of Annotation Science.
