Abstract/Summary:
In1920s, under the influence of the "May4th" New Culture Movement, China stepped into the stage of professional musical creation worthy of the name. Composers represented by Zhao Yuanren and Qing Zhu created Chinese art songs with national style by using Chinese poetry and western composition techniques in combination with traditional Chinese musical elements. This vocal music form gradually grew mature in1930s and1940s and became an extremely charming musical form in the modern and contemporary history of music in China. Early Chinese art songs mentioned in this paper refer to Chinese art songs created in1920s-1940s.With the establishment of music institutions of higher learning in China, training and study of bel canto started in vocal music teaching. Teaching materials used initially were foreign songs and Chinese vocal music works were lacking. The creation of early Chinese art songs has undoubtedly produced significant and profound influence on Chinese vocal music art. This paper first defines the concept and features of art songs from the perspective of vocal music teaching and then deeply discusses the influence of early Chinese art songs on Chinese professional vocal music teaching in three aspects-teaching content, teaching concept and singing skills on the basis of analyzing and summarizing the development process and features of early Chinese art songs, expecting that vocal music workers can fully understand the value of early Chinese art songs in vocal music teaching and attach importance to the use of such works in vocal music teaching, thus promoting the development of Chinese vocal music career.
